We’re Changing the Way the World Responds to Human
Suffering.
The Bertha Project is an innovative initiative designed to improve responses to human suffering after natural disasters. Inspired by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, our mission is to ensure quick access to essential supplies, like fresh water, for affected communities.
Our team includes scientific researchers who have identified a rising trend in natural disasters, prompting us to enhance our response efforts.
We plan to develop specialized disaster relief vehicles that will work alongside our PIO Officers during emergencies.
These vehicles will deliver crucial supplies directly to communities within 12-24 hours after a disaster, prioritizing areas with lower property values. Our funding comes from government and private grants, along with support from community contributions. Ultimately, our focus is on being there for citizens in need.

SERVICES
Our disaster response team is carefully deployed to areas hit hardest by natural disasters, focusing first on those most in need. We identify the five most affected zip codes and start our aid efforts in communities with lower property values, as these areas often face longer waits for relief.
We take a holistic approach, addressing the needs of all impacted communities, beginning with the most economically disadvantaged and gradually expanding our efforts. This ensures that no community is overlooked in our relief work, regardless of its socioeconomic status.
The Bertha Project was inspired by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, but we officially became a 501(c)(3) organization in 2023. Since then, we’ve made significant strides, including acquiring several retired police vehicles to enhance our PIO Officer fleet. We recognize that the community’s needs far exceed our current capacity, but we’re committed to making a difference wherever we can—responding to one disaster at a time.

We Hope to Meet in the Middle.
The Bertha Project swiftly deploys vital supplies, including fresh water and first-aid kits, to disaster-stricken communities through its innovative mobile outreach program. Managed by experienced retired firefighters and law enforcement officers, the organization will distribute essentials freely to residents. Aligning with FEMA's efforts from a different angle, our mission bridges the gap in resource distribution, guaranteeing rapid, initial relief—within hours of a catastrophe, not days—prioritizing regions traditionally bereft of ample public resources. It's pivotal to recognize that while strategic evaluations are undertaken, our primary directive is dictated by the immediate needs sculpted by the unpredictable hands of 'Mother Nature, not man, as neutrality is high on our priority list.'

Those interested in joining The Bertha Project must be retired firefighters or law enforcement officers. Due to limited resources, we can only accept those who are still receiving a pension from the municipality where they retired.
"GO TEAM ALERT" ENABLED
The Bertha Project is currently engaged in the development of a multi-faceted software application for internal and external use. The app aims to provide real-time notifications to project members regarding natural and man-made disasters within the United States. Upon receiving a request for assistance from federal or local government agencies, the project team will be activated via a "Go TEAM ALERT" dispatch mechanism.
