The Bertha Project was established with the aim of assisting the community in surviving a disaster. In recent times, disaster preparedness has become an increasingly crucial aspect for all individuals. In this regard, the Dimensional Anthropology Museum has compiled a set of vital information that everyone should possess. The video produced by the Museum encompasses a selection of fundamental survival tips and equipment that should be known to all.
One aspect that The Bertha Project is closely examining for each of our PIO vehicles is the inclusion of rapid-evacuation aircots for Autism patients. Although the primary role of our PIOs is to support local law enforcement officers, we recognize that urgent transportation may occasionally be necessary for special patients solely supported by Autism funding. In such instances, our PIO vehicles will be equipped with aircots.
The Bertha Project is dedicated to assisting individuals with autism in the event of natural or man-made disasters. Recognizing the impact of this medical condition on many people in society, the organization aims to provide aid to families who have lost essential equipment in the aftermath of a disaster and are struggling to care for their loved ones with autism.

To support families coping with autism after a disaster, The Bertha Project plans to collaborate with organizations like Autism Speaks and The Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) to understand the emergency equipment that can be carried in the Bertha & Kiki and several PIO vehicles.
The organization acknowledges that there is no universal solution for helping families cope with autistic individuals who have lost essential equipment as each person has unique needs.

The Bertha Project aims to provide basic equipment to support families coping with autism, including weighted blankets, noise-canceling headphones, fidget toys, visual aids, and a burner cellphone with communication apps already installed.
These equipment items can help individuals with autism feel comfortable, reduce noise impact, manage anxiety, and communicate and manage their daily routines.
The Bertha Project is committed to improving its support and resources for the autism community in all situations.
The organization recognizes the importance of providing support to families dealing with autism in the event of a disaster and seeks to provide basic equipment to assist these individuals. In addition, the organization aims to provide an in-house class to its members on how to deal with persons with autism following a disaster when medical transportation is not possible.
The goal is to have specialized equipment available to give to a family member, neighbor, or caretaker who can care for and use the emergency supplies to manage a person with autism until avenues have been restored for professional medical assistance to be re-established.

It is important to note that The Bertha Project is a nonprofit organization, and those wishing to support our Autism Disaster Help project can only do so by donating to an established Autism organization.
The Bertha Project will then solicit funds from those organizations to support our efforts. No direct funds meant for our Autism portion should ever be offered directly to The Bertha Project. Instead, authorized Autism organizations should be informed that the donation is intended for The Bertha Project once officially established.
AUTISM HELP
PIO vehicles that can transport people with autism will have the above logo on the back window.
In a disaster, those with Autism often need a bit more help.
-
To meet some of those needs, we are establishing PIO vehicles that can transport one individual with autism, if needed. Support for this program and others like it will come from established autism organizations. The PIO vehicles shall only operate in those areas where Bertha & Kiki are active.
WHY DO WE USE SPONSORS TO HELP?
-
The Bertha Project strives to be an adjunct of the Federal Emergency Management Agency while maintaining complete autonomy from government oversight. By allowing the impact of natural disasters to dictate the initial deployment locations for Bertha and Kiki, the project relinquishes control from human agency. Instead, it relies on the natural order of events. Corporate sponsorship provides an avenue for companies to support the very consumers who patronize their products and services more directly. These sponsors do not influence the deployment locations for Bertha and Kiki; they are simply demonstrating their commitment to the community's well-being. The Bertha Project shares this dedication to the welfare of individuals.
